‘Bulawan’ winners bared

The winners of the Bulawan Awards annual product design competition of the Association of the Negros Producers were awarded Monday at the fountain area of the Robisnon’s Place Mall in Bacolod City.

For the food sector category, Virgie’s received the best pastries, cookies, baked goods and flour-based products award for its white chocolate with camias and prunes, while Pueblo was named as best confectionaries for fruit preserves and other sugar-based products.

Jarvis Smoked bangus tapenade won the best deli products and other non-sugar based preserves and Fresh Start personal care collection bagged the price for best health and wellness preparations.

Tumandok’s Finger/Stamp Bowl Collection and Golden Nesting Table were named best table top and gifts and furniture products, respectively.

Other winners were Hacienda Crafts’ HCC Designed fabrics for best home furnishing products, Vito Prints’ Alitaptap for best luminary furniture product, Crisvil’s Pinay bangles for best jewelries and accessories, Saturn Arts and Fashion’s Pandan bags for best bags and footwear products, Ping’s Knitwear’s baby doll dress for best garment product and Gala’s pouches as best novelty, travel and luggage gear.

Judging the food products were chefs Nico Millanes of Terrasse Bistro at Ayala District mall, Guenther Sannin director and owner of the Bacolod Academy for Culinary Arts, and Richard Ynayan of the Institute of Culinary Arts-De La Salle.

For the fashion/garments/bags/novelties category the judge were designers PJ Aranador, Tony De Ramos and John-John Ditching, while architects Bamboo Tonogbanua and Francis Delos Reyes, and Jeannie Santos of Ayala District Mall Talisay, were the jurors for the furniture and luminary products competition.

Arandador, Christine Tomas and Nepthalie Grandea, merchandisers of Robinson’s Place and SM City Bacolod, respectively, were the judges for the tabletop/home furnishing category.

Negros Occidental Vice Governor Eugenio Lacson was the guest speaker at the awarding rites.

Bulawan Awards is a yearly event that recognizes outstanding products by ANP members and is designed to encourage ingenuity, creativity, and commitment in terms of product innovation, packaging and the development of new market-driven products that are competitive in both domestic and international markets.*APN
