The Department of Agrarian Reform in Negros Oriental has lined up activities to celebrate the 4th anniversary of the Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program Extension with Reforms this week.

Provincial Agrarian Reform officer Stephen Leonidas yesterday said the commemoration kicked off with a motorcade and a display of farm products at the DAR office Monday.

Other activities are friendly volleyball and basketball games, 5-kilometer run and a 400-meter 4x50 relay participated in by DAR employees, multi-purpose cooperatives and people’s organizations, the CARP beneficiaries and their children.

He said they will award the winners in the search for outstanding Municipal Agrarian Reform Officer and Municipal Agrarian Reform Office, and other recognitions will be given to provincial and municipal offices today, with DAR Undersecretary Jose Trajeda as guest of honor.

Leonidas said Trajeda is interested in the database of landholdings covered by the land reform program in Negros Oriental, and if the lands had been distributed or not.

Leonidas said the MAROs were issued laptops and pocket Wi-Fis to ensure instant access to information on land distribution and other CARPER programs.

He said he believes that the DAR in Negros Oriental is the first in the country to have established a database on land reform down to the town level.*JFP
