Murder raps filed vs. 3
for slay of Sola, driver

Two counts of murder were filed against three suspects in the killing of a gamefowl breeder, reported to be the son of a former mayor, and his driver in Murcia, before the Provincial Prosecutor’s Office, Senior Inspector Norberto Barniso, town police chief, said yesterday.

Barniso identified the three suspects facing murder charges, as Roberto Tisalona and his brother, Refegie, and Edwin Yanson, all residents of Brgy.Minoyan, Murcia.

Victims Benjamen Sola, 51, reportedly a son of former Kabankalan Mayor Pablo Sola, and his driver, Arturo Naces, 28, were shot in the back by the suspects on July 13, near a videoke house in Purok Uno, Brgy.Minoyan, Murcia.

Barniso said witnesses were able to identify the suspects when they secured a picture of Roberto, who is also a suspect in a murder case in Bago, that he reportedly settled amicably with the victim’s family.

Investigations by the Murcia police showed that the suspects took the 9mm Ingram pistol from Naces, after shooting him and Sola.

A live ammunition of 9mm pistol was recovered by the Murcia police from the crime scene, while a 357 magnum revolver was reportedly used in the shooting, Barniso said.

Sola, who owns a two-hectare gamefowl farm in Murcia, succumbed to three gunshot wounds, while Naces was hit twice in the back, police investigations also showed.

Two slugs of a .38 and 357 magnum revolver were recovered from the bodies of the victims, police investigations also showed.

Barniso said they are also checking if Refegie and Yanson have pending cases in court. The three suspects were still at-large as of press time yesterday.*GPB

‘Robber’ arrested for
bladed weapon

A man, who allegedly robbed and attempted to rape a nurse who was on her way home to Cityville Subdivision in Brgy. Estefania, Bacolod City, Saturday, was arrested by a tanod at about 2:30 a.m. yesterday and turned over to the police.

Station 4 commander, Chief Insp. Adonis Rosales, said Mark Gallo, 23, of Cityville Subdivision, was arrested by tanod Mario Tomaro for possession of a bladed weapon, in violation of City Ordinance 358.

Rosales said Oaine Rose Chiong, 23, also of Cityville, reported to the police that she was robbed by a half-naked man behind the barangay hall Saturday. At the police station yesterday she positively identified Gallo as the one who stole her valuables and hit her on the face.

The police recovered the DSLR camera worth P26,000, a cellular phone, and ATM cards, from the houses of Gallo and his friend in Purok Masinadyahon, Brgy. 12 in Bacolod who was not identified, but to whom the suspect had pawned the items.

Investigation showed that Gallo grabbed Chiong by the waist, covered her mouth, and attempted to drag her to a dark portion of the street but Chiong fought back and bit his finger.

Gallo, who admitted having been arrested for alarm and scandal before, said he did not know what he had done as he was under the influence of liquor then.

But he denied that he owned the bladed weapon or attempted to rape Chiong.

Charges for violation of CO 358 has been filed against Gallo, and charges for robbery and physical injury are being readied by the police, Rosales added.*SGG

Police nab ‘pusher’

A man fought back against operatives of the City Anti-Illegal Drugs Special Operations Task Group during a buy-bust operation at his house in Purok Kabugwason, Brgy. Mansilingan in Bacolod City at about 12:30 p.m. yesterday.

CAIDSOTG chief, Senior Insp. Neil Exaltado, said Deolito Gonzaga, alias “Jolito”, 46, was nabbed after he handed a small heat-sealed plastic sachet of suspected shabu to the police poseur-buyer, in exchange for P400.

He also said charges for resisting arrest and violation of sections 5 and 11 of Republic Act 9165, or the sale and possession of dangerous drugs, will be filed against Gonzaga, at the City Prosecutor's Office in Bacolod after test results on the seized substance prove positive.

Also seized from Gonzaga were two big heat-sealed plastic sachets of suspected shabu, and three small heat-sealed plastic sachets of suspected shabu, Exaltado said.

Several gambling paraphernalia, a cellular phone, and P450 in cash, believed to be proceeds from the illegal sale of shabu, were also recovered on top of a table in the room of Gonzaga, Exaltado said.

He said the estimated two grams of suspected shabu with market value of about P20,000, were turned over to the Provincial Crime Laboratory for drug testing.

Exaltado said Gonzaga, who had previously been arrested in a buy-bust operation, told him he was selling illegal drugs because he is the breadwinner of his family.
