Projects need immediate funding: Salado

BY CARLA GOMEZ

Negros Occidental Provincial Budget Officer, Jose Percival Salado Jr., yesterday said projects to be covered by the unrestricted funds of the provincial government are not part of a wish list, but are items for immediate funding to be included in a proposed supplemental budget.

The items that need immediate funding total P199 million but the available funds for the supplemental budget is only P111 million, he said.

These include additional funding for the Sipalay, Silay and Cadiz hospitals, Mambukal Resort in Murcia, monetization for employees, separation pay of jail guards, terminal leave payments and benefits of graduating officials and employees, he said.

The finalization of such allocations will be decided by Gov. Alfredo Marañon Jr., he said.

Vice Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson and members of the Negros Occidental Sanggunian are set to meet with Marañon this noon to discuss the allocation of funds.

The governor has asked the SP to approve an additional P180 million loan for the completion of the Negros First CyberCentre in Bacolod City, but the SP has been exploring ways to reduce the amount to be taken out as a loan.*CPG
