The Department of Interior and Local Government in Negros Oriental directed local government units to create the local governance transition teams to ensure the smooth turnover of accountabilities of newly-elected, or re-elected local officials.
DILG provincial director Farah Diba Gentuya said this is in compliance with DILG Memorandum Circular No. 2013-33, signed by Secretary Mar Roxas recently, a government press release said yesterday.
She said the DILG field officers are fully prepared to work with the local chief executives and other members of the transition team in ensuring the orderly turnover of accountabilities, and in conducting a comprehensive briefing to newly-elected officials.
The team will be composed of representatives from the DILG, Commission on Appointments, non-government and public organizations, and heads of city or town departments, the press release also said.
Gentuya said the team is mandated to do an inventory of movable assets, like vehicles, office equipment, furniture and supplies, and immovable ones such as land, buildings, and infrastructure facilities.
The team is also tasked to assemble all documents and records, and organize the turnover rites, she added.
The DILG said it will support the local officials and conduct briefings for those elected for the first time on their duties and responsibilities, the provisions of the Local Government Code, status and programs of the LGUs; and a re-orientation for come-backing or reelected officials, the press release added.*
