Silliman University in Dumaguete City has announced that three electric golf carts are in full operation for school year 2013-2014, and will offer free transportation to students, faculty, staff and alumni around the university’s 62-hectare campus.
The electric golf carts were donated by alumni chapters in the United States. Two came from the SU Alumni Association of Southern California and the other from the SUAA International-Chicago, a press release from the school said.
The units arrived in December last year and have been slightly improved.
Last year, the university launched the Silliman-Smart Communications four-wheel “tartanilya,” or horse cart. In 2010, it introduced campus cruiser, a 14-seater limousine-like vehicle open at the sides for better air circulation. It was donated by the SUAA in Southern California, the press release also said.
The Student Government has also initiated the rent-a-bike program for the students that is on its third year now, the press release added.*JFP
