Inmates complain
vs. prov’l jail guard

BY CARLA GOMEZ

The complaints sent by three inmates of the Negros Occidental District Jail in Barangay Tabunan, Bago City, to Gov. Alfredo Marañon Jr. against a provincial jail guard have been forwarded to the Provincial Legal Office for action, Provincial Administrator Enrique Pinongan said yesterday.

In a letter to the governor, an inmate, whose name is being withheld by the DAILY STAR for his security, complained against a provincial guard who was supposed to accompany him for a medical checkup, but instead made him wait in a taxi while he had sex at Adam’s Lodge in Bacolod City, purportedly with the child of a fellow guard.

Another inmate also complained that the same jail guard got Christmas lanterns from him and did not pay for them.

A third inmate complained that a jail guard told him that a lot of inmates were angry with him for pinpointing to the administration inmates who had cellular phones and other contraband items.

The inmate said that when he asked the guard not to put him in with the rest of the inmates as he might be killed, the guard told him his option would be to escape.*CPG
