Sugar production,
consumption up: SRA

MAKATI CITY – Sugar Regulatory Administrator Ma. Regina Martin yesterday said Philippine sugar production and consumption have increased.

As of June 2, sugar production reached 2.448 million mt, which is 0.6 percent higher than SRA's second production estimate of 2.434 million mt for crop year 2012-2013, she said.

“This will further increase as three mills are still grinding and some mills that earlier stopped milling are set to restart by early August,” Martin said. moremoremore

Brgy. polls set for October

The barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections will push through in October this year, outgoing Negros Occidental provincial elections supervisor Wil Arceño said yesterday.

In fact, Arceño, who is returning to his old post as Capiz provincial Comelec supervisor next week, said that they have been instructed to start the registration of new voters starting July 1.

The synchronized barangay and SK election is scheduled on October 28.moremoremore

PCSO extends STL

The Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office has extended to four months the operation of Small Town Lottery game in Negros Occidental, that is being managed and supervised by the Super Lucky Beagler Inc.

This is because the guidelines for the implementation of the PCSO Loterya ng Bayan, that will replace the STL operation, are yet to be approved by the Office of the President, its chairwoman, Margarita Juico, said.

The PCSO extended the STL operations of Super Lucky Beagler Inc. from July 1 to October 31 this year, by virtue of its Board Resolution No. 122, series of 2103, dated June 6, a copy of which was furnished the DAILY STAR.moremoremore
