Bacolod honoring
top citizens today

Two outstanding citizens of Bacolod City will receive the Ang Banwahanon Award in ceremonies to be held starting 6 p.m. today at the grand lobby of the Bacolod City Government Center.
The Ang Banwahanon Award, which is a prestigious award given to citizens of Bacolod in recognition of their outstanding contribution to the city, will be conferred on Fe Remitio and businessman Ben Ortega.
This was institutionalized through City Ordinance No. 494,
Sixteen individuals and organizations will also receive the Mayor’s Special Citations.   |
Charter signing day tomorrow
The commemoration of the Charter signing of Bacolod City tomorrow, offers a spectacular evening show at the government center, a press release from City Hall said.
The evening of the Commemoration of the 75th Year of the Signing will be celebrated in grand fashion, it said.
Panasiatic Call Center has teamed-up with ABS-CBN Bacolod to stage a Kapamilya Karavan tomorrow evening at the grounds of the Bacolod City Government Center.   |
MassKara wins in New York
The Bacolod MassKara New York dancers won the grand prize plaque as champions in the marchers’ category at the 115th Independence Day commemoration in The Big Apple recently, a press release from organizers said.
The dancers were Filipino nurses working in Boston, Virginia, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, Maryland, and New Jersey. Nestor Gargarita and his wife, Pipet, who conceptualized the grand dance parade of authentic Bacolod MassKara in New York City, said they assembled authentic Jojo Vito masks and costumes shipped from Bacolod, and held dance practices over Youtube, the press release also said.
The nurses practiced their dance routine in front of computer monitors, and a day before the grand event last June 2, they gathered at the park for the final rehearsal, Gargarita said.   |
