When the public-private sector work together, so much can be done for the city and its people, Bacolod Congressman-elect and Mayor Evelio said about those who were given the Ang Banwahanon Award at the ceremonies held last night at the grand lobby of the Bacolod City Government Center.

“In Bacolod, we have been blessed so that over the years, it was never a solo flight for government in attending to the needs and demands of our people,” Leonardia said.

The Ang Banwahanon Award, a prestigious honor given to citizens of Bacolod in recognition of their outstanding contributions to the city, was conferred on Fe Legaspi-Remitio and businessman Ben Ortega.moremoremore

NOHCI hits moving
of charter day

Senator Aquilino “Koko” Pimentel will be the guest of honor and speaker during the 75th commemoration of the signing of the Charter of Bacolod City today at the Bacolod City Government Center.

The activity, which is part of the “Mga Adlaw sg Paghanduraw,” will start with a mass at 9 a.m. today, to be followed by the installation of Senator Pedro Arnaez statue, portraits of 25 mayors of Bacolod City and panels “A People’s Dream Come True” at the government center lobby.

Meanwhile, the officials of the Negros Occidental Historical Council, Inc. reiterated their opposition against moves to amend the official October 19 Bacolod City Charter Day to June 18 and called on all sectors and the citizenry of Bacolod to set aside what they call a divisive issue.moremoremore

Guv, Monico
discuss partnership

Mayor-elect Monico Puentevella said he met with Gov. Alfredo Marañon at the provincial Capitol yesterday to discuss how they can work together to ensure progress for Bacolod Cityand Negros Occidental.

Marañon said he expects the province to have a good working partnership with Bacolod City.

He asked Puentevella to act on the traffic, garbage and squatter problems in Bacolod City, the governor said.
