City inaugural rites July 2
BY CARLA GOMEZ

The inaugural rites of Bacolod mayor-elect Monico Puentevella and the rest of the newly-elected city officials will be held at the Bacolod public plaza on July 2, although they will assume their posts on July 1 as required by law.

On July 2 a concelebrated mass to be headed by Bacolod Bishop Vicente Navarra will be held at the San Sebastian Cathedral at 3:30 p.m., followed by the inaugural rites of the elected city officials at the plaza, and an inaugural gala night at the Bacolod Pavillon at 7:30 p.m., Puentevella said yesterday.

Guests from Manila, including potential investors, have been invited to the gala night where they will be briefed on his plans for the city in the next three years, the mayor-elect added.

On July 1 he will join the city government employees at the flag- raising ceremony at the Bacolod Government Center, after which he will meet with the city department heads, Puentevella said.

He will also conduct an inspection of the Bacolod Government Center where he will hold office on Mondays, Wednesdays and Friday and the City Hall at Araneta Street where he will be on Tuesdays and Thursdays, he added.

Puentevella said he may also use part of the Bacolod City Hall for a library and museum for the city.

He does not know yet how many casuals will be retained and laid off yet, the mayor-elect also said.*CPG
