Diocese calls TRO
St. Therese miracle
BY CARLA GOMEZ

A jubilant Bacolod Bishop Vicente Navarra attributed the Supreme Court’s granting of a Temporary Restraining Order yesterday, that stopped the Commission on Elections from removing the Team Patay/Team Buhay tarpaulin in front of the San Sebastian Cathedral in Bacolod City, to God and a miracle from St. Therese of the Child Jesus.

The bishop and the priests of the Diocese of Bacolod learned of the SC ruling during a mass at the San Sebastian Cathedral to welcome the pilgrim relics of St. Therese, one of the most popular saints of the Catholic church.

Fr. Segundo Chua, secretary to the bishop, announced to about 3,000 faithful at the mass that a miracle had happened, the TRO had been granted, which was met with loud applause and cheers.moremoremore

Devotees venerate relics
BY NIDA BUENAFE

Chants of prayers, fresh roses, and showers of flower petals greeted the arrival of the pilgrim relics of St. Therese of the Child Jesus on its third visit to the Diocese of Bacolod yesterday.

Known for her miraculous intercession, devotees of St. Therese lined the streets as the relics passed by on the way to Bacolod City from Hinigaran town.

The relics, which are bone fragments of St. Therese housed in a special reliquary, are from the Basilica of St. Therese in Lisieux, France, Eli Tajanlangit, member of the committee that prepared for the visit, had earlier told the DAILY STAR. moremoremore

No ‘Patay’ tarps
for 2 dioceses

BY CARLA GOMEZ

Two of the three Catholic dioceses in Negros Occidental are not putting up “Team Patay, Team Buhay” tarpaulins in their churches, unlike the Diocese of Bacolod, their social action directors said yesterday.

While they support the cause of the Diocese of Bacolod against the RH Law, Fr. Edwin Laude, Social Action Center director of the Diocese of San Carlos, said they have yet to get a consensus from the clergy in their diocese on the education campaign they will adopt.

But, definitely, they will not use the “Team Patay/Team Buhay” title that is very divisive, they will just list down the names of those who voted against and for the RH Law to inform the faithful, Laude told the DAILY STAR.
