Comelec checks
on connectivity

BY CARLA GOMEZ

The Commission on Elections is checking on Internet connectivity throughout Negros Occidental to ensure the smooth transmission of election returns in the May 13 polls, Provincial Election Officer Wil Arceño said yesterday.

So far, there are only two towns where there are connectivity problems, he said.

There is no connectivity in almost all far-flung barangays of Calatrava so the instructions are for the returns from those areas to be brought to the town proper for transmission, he said.

A similar remedy will be applied for barangays Banga and Gatuslao in Candoni town, where there is also no connectivity, Arceño added.

The COMELEC is conducting training for technicians of the precinct count optical scan (PCOS)machines, who will serve in the May polls.*CPG
