Bacolod City Mayor Evelio Leonardia was given recognition as a graduating three-term mayor by the League of Cities of the Philippines during its 59th general assembly at the Manila Hotel, recently.
Leonardia is the incumbent national executive vice president of LCP for 2010-2013. He was its national vice chairman in 2007-2010, and its deputy secretary general for Visayas in 2004-2007, a press release from City Hall said.
Leonardia expressed his sincerest gratitude to the mayors for the privilege to work with them in a personal, meaningful and productive way.
“I will forever cherish those memories and experiences I have shared with each one of you. Beyond the lessons in good governance and professionalism are camaraderie, friendship and personal relationships,” he said in his response.
“Mayors’ tenures have limits but friendships have no end,” he said.
Leonardia was honored by the LCP for transforming Bacolod City to what it is today—vibrant, livable, (and) the bustling city of MassKara Festival,” the press release said.
Under his administration, Bacolod City was adjudged as most business friendly, most child friendly, best in disaster preparedness, cleanest and greenest, 2010 new wave city in business process outsourcing, and a pilot site in people’s participation in the recently-concluded European-Union-supported Democratic of Local Governance Project in Southeast Asia, among others.
The members of the League expressed their gratitude to Leonardia for sharing his time and commitment to the LCP and his fellow mayors, who said they will always cherish his generosity, the press release added.* back
