Driver rapes, kills
child in Victorias

A pair of slippers recovered at the crime scene, led to the identification and arrest of a pedicab driver, believed responsible for the molestation and killing of a 6-year-old girl,whose body was found Sunday in Victorias City, Negros Occidental.

Supt. Alexander Munoz, Victorias police chief, yesterday said the body of Kim Marie Canete, 6, was found under the bed of the suspect, Ricky Gentilizo, 22, at about 11 a.m. Sunday, in a makeshift hut in New Barrio, Brgy. 16-A, Victorias City, when he was invited for questioning.

The body was wrapped in transparent plastic, when discovered by the Victorias police.moremoremore

A teenager stabbed and killed the father of his friend over missing money at about 11:10 p.m. Sunday in Brgy. Banago, Bacolod City .

The victim was identified by Station 3 chief, Senior Insp. Dianne Grace Aquitania, as Renato Tumakay, 54, of Purok Langis in Brgy, Banago and employed as a delivery van driver.

Tumakay, who sustained stab wounds on his chest, was brought to the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital but was declared dead on arrival. moremoremore

Security up for Holy Week

The Philippine Army and National Police in Negros Occidental are now on alert status to ensure a peaceful celebration of the Holy Week.

The New People's Army is also marking its 44 th founding anniversary on March 29, which falls on Good Friday.

Col. Oscar Lactao, 303 rd Infantry Brigade commander, yesterday said they are now observing red alert status, while Negrenses are set to have a lengthy break for the Holy Week..moremoremore
