NBI seizes guns,
nabs policeman

Four firearms and thousands of ammunition were seized from the house of an active policeman at the New Negros Coliseum, Simplicio Palanca Village, Tomaro Street, Brgy. Pahanocoy in Bacolod City, at about 1:20 a.m. yesterday.

National Bureau of Investigation Regional Director, Manuel Almandres, identified the suspect as Ricaredo Rex Noble “alias Mustang”, who is assigned at the Intelligence Branch of the Bacolod City Police Office.

Recovered from Noble were a Norinco .45 caliber pistol with serial number BB02456-08-246, a P. Beretta .9 mm caliber pistol with serial number G797282, an M-14 rifle and scope with serial number 7790186TRWZB, and an M-16 rifle with serial number 1121201. moremoremore

 “Look for the real mastermind of the crime and stop barking up the wrong tree.”

That was the response yesterday of Rep. Mercedes Alvarez (Neg. Occ., 6th District) to the children of Kabankalan Judge Henry Arles.

The Department of Justice dismissed the charges filed against Negros Occidental Vice Governor Genaro Alvarez Jr., his son, Ilog Mayor John Paul Alvarez, and Cauayan Vice Mayor Jerry Tabujara for the murder of Judge Arles for “insufficiency of evidence”. moremoremore

PCOS final testing in
Neg. Occ. Friday

The Commission on Elections delivered 1,733 Precinct Count Optical Scan machines to the 31 towns and cities of Negros Occidental without a hitch yesterday for the automated counting of votes in Monday’s polls, Provincial Elections Supervisor Wil Arceño said yesterday.

The 311 PCOS machines for Bacolod City will be delivered to voting precincts in Bacolod City tomorrow when their final testing and sealing will be conducted starting 9 a.m., Arceño said.

The PCOS machines delivered to the towns and cities yesterday will  be stored in COMELEC offices, or in areas deemed secure by the poll elections officers, to be guarded by the police and watchers of various political parties, he added.moremoremore
