Church pushing
for 9 Senate bets

BY CARLA GOMEZ

The Diocese of Bacolod has began distributing sample ballots to churchgoers in all its churches urging them to vote for nine “pro-life” senatorial bets and one party list group.

“We are praying the people will vote for these candidates,” Bacolod Bishop Vicente Navarra told the DAILY STAR yesterday.

Navarra has been spearheading the Diocese campaign against the Reproductive Health Law and calling for its repeal. Earlier, the Diocese of Bacolod put up a “Team Patay (death) Team Buhay (life)” tarpaulin in front of the San Sebastian Cathedral in Bacolod City, listing the senatorial candidates who voted for and against the RH Law.

In the sample ballots being distributed in Catholic churches in the Diocese of Bacolod titled “Conscience Vote 2013 senatoriables”, the nine choice bets on the list are Lito David, JC de los Reyes, JV Ejercito Estrada, Gregorio Honasan, Marwil Llasos, Mitos Magsaysay, Koko Pimentel, Antonio Trillanes and Cynthia Villar.

The partylist group listed is Prolife.

The bishop said he believes these candidates will support the pro-life, pro-God stance of the Church.

On sample ballots being distributed in churches at the Diocese of Kabankalan are eight senatorial bets: Lito David, JC delos Reyes, Gregorio Honasan, Marwil Llasos, Koko Pimentel, Antonio Trillanes, Juan Miguel Zubiri andChristianSeñeres.*CPG
