Old man rues failure to vote
BY JUDY F. PARTLOW

An elderly man from Sibulan, Negros Oriental, was dismayed yesterday on knowing that his name was not in the list of registered voters of the town.

Gomersindo Grefaldia, 83, accompanied by his wife, Valeriana, 87, went to the Sibulan Central Elementary School to cast their votes but was told at the voters' assistance desk, managed by volunteers of the Parish Pastoral Council for Responsible Voting, that only the name of his wife could be located.

A PPCRV volunteer, who went to the Sibulan Comelec office to check the matter, said Gomersindo was not registered since he failed to vote in the past two elections.

But Gomersindo said he remembered voting in the 2010 presidential elections, and his wife confirmed this.

The PPCRV volunteers said even the names of the couple's children and grandchildren were in the certified voters' list.*JFP
