Condura/BUSG tilt

Panasonic 3 0
Negros Basketball Group 2 1
Sharp 2 1
Deding's Eatery 1 2
PESO BAYS Club 1 2
NHOJs Sportswear 0 3

Amit Teruel hit a three-point shot just when Panasonic needed it most as they beat Negros Basketball Group, 103-87, to take solo leadership in the Condura Cup/ BUS Group 2nd invitational on Sunday at Po Hang gym of Bacolod Tay Tung High School.

Starting hot with a 10-0 run, Panasonic secured the first quarter with a 19-7 lead and remained in control of the game with a halftime 36-24 advantage.

Panasonic sustained the momentum in the second half and posted a 50-32 lead in the third quarter. NBG tried to comeback in the payoff period, cutting the deficit to four points at 76-72 behind Gudoy Cepriano's 36 points and Arthur Braganza's 14 markers.

But Teruel's shot from the rainbow arc and a two-pointer from Tornilla gave Panasonic some breathing room at 81-72.

Teruel finished the game with 19 points, Garry Garcia added 18 on medium jumper putbacks, Koko Fuentebella chipped in 14 and Biboy Java 11 points.

In other games, Sharp capitalized on speed and terrific good shooting percentage to frustrate NHOJs, 121-83, while Deding's Eatery turned back PESO BAYS Club to swallow, 99-93.

Hermi Derwill ignited Sharp sharpshooters with 26 points, Bert Celis added 22, Digol Benedicto scored 20, Ben Alvarez powered his way with 17 points, Felipe Tumamot churned in 14 and Ed Cruz had 13 points.

Former La Salle Stingers Junjun Chua's NHOJs was led by Wendell Fernandez' 20 markers, Felipe Luciano's 17, Christian Fernandez' 14 and Lodel Magbanua's 13 points.

Michael Lim and Doc Guanzon combined for 13 points as the shorthanded La Sallians again crumpled at crunch time.

Ball wizard Sarian Ordas led PESO BAYS with 25 points while Albert Smalley hit 17 and Adrian Melocoton contributed 11 points, nine from the arc.

Twin towers Mong Deriada and Mong Aurino controlled both boards to give enough room for Rey Caballero to score 24 markers, while Edwin Duterte added 19, Amay Ilon scored 11. Deriada added 10 mostly coming from the free throw line.

PESO BAYS trailed all the way until Ordas hit back-to-back triples to tie the game at 66-all with 2:40 left in the third quarter. It was close all the way with Caballero, the former UNO-R Ram and Deriada getting the points from the charity stripe.

Games are played on Sundays at 11:00 a.m.*
