The Commission on Elections proclaimed the winning candidates of the May 13 automated elections in Bacolod City last night, except for councilor-elect Alex Paglumotan of the Nationalist People’s Coalition-Grupo Progreso, who was not present.
Bacolod congressman-elect Evelio Leonardia of NPC-GP was proclaimed at the Sangguniang Panlungsod session hall of the Bacolod Government Center at about 8:55 p.m., while mayor-elect Monico Puentevella of Pamilya MKK was proclaimed at past 7 p.m.
Elected councilors El Cid Familiaran, Jocelle Batapa-Sigue, Roberto Rojas, Em Ang, Carlos Jose Lopez, Kalaw Puentevella, Caesar Distrito, Archie Baribar, Wilson Gamboa Jr., Sonya Verdeflor and Ana Marie Palermo were also proclaimed at about 8 p.m., while vice mayor-elect Greg Gasataya of NPC-GP was proclaimed at about 8:35 p.m.   |
New officials calls for unity

Congressman-elect Evelio Leonardia and Mayor-elect Monico Puentevella gave their views on their new challenges as officials of Bacolod City after the proclamation at the New Government Center yesterday..
Puentevella said that as a father of the city he is willing to unite and reconcile with everyone including his political opponents for the welfare of Bacolod.
A three-termer congressman, Puentevella also thanked his constituents and those who voted for him, even those who did not.    |
Marañon widens
lead vs. Alvarez

The lead of re-electionist Gov. Alfredo Marañon Jr. over Genaro Alvarez Jr., anointed candidate of Nationalist People’s Coalition founder Eduardo Cojuangco, widened by 130,674 votes yesterday.
Marañon (United Negros Alliance) had 419,911 votes over Alvarez, who had 289,237, in partial unofficial results from the Comelec's Transparency Server via the Rappler Mirror Server.
In the Comelec’s official website, the count showed Alvarez with 244,517 votes and Marañon with 364,925, or a margin of 120,408.   |
