The Roselyn Pelle Command of the Northern Negros Guerilla Front of the New People’s Army yesterday claimed responsibility for the killing of three persons in northern Negros Occidental whom it tagged as “counter-revolutionary”.

It also denied allegations that NPA fighters are goons of Escalante Mayor Melecio Yap Jr.

The Roselyn Pelle Command, in a two-page statement signed by its spokesperson Cecil Estrella, admitted to the assassination of PO1 Bejein Tanguan and Joseph Lutrago in Esclanate City on April 1 and militiaman Eduardo Laguna in Toboso in March.moremoremore

Negros Occidental Vice Governor Genaro Alvarez Jr. and Board Member Melvin Ibañez yesterday thanked all those who supported them in their run for the top two positions of the province in the May 13 polls.

Alvarez (Nationalist People’s Coalition) who garnered 357,809 votes lost to Gov. Alfredo Marañon Jr. (United Negros Alliance) who had 528,895 votes, or a lead of 171,086 votes.

Negros PNP
downgrade alert status

The Philippine National Police has downgraded from full alert to normal alert status in Negros Occidental starting Saturday, as the Police Regional Office 6 recalled its 300 policemen deployed in the province during election day.

Senior Supt. Ricardo de la Paz, officer-in-charge of the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office, yesterday said they are now back to anti-criminality operations.

NOPPO has not recorded any election-related or violent incidents on election day.moremoremore
