to ‘Center of Excellence

Bacolod City was declared a “Center of Excellence” for information technology and business process management operations at rites held at the Grand Ballroom of the Dusit Thani Hotel in Makati City last night, Bacolod Mayor Evelio Leonardia said.

“This is a great day for Bacolod City! It has cemented our hold as a top information technology and business process management (IT-BPM) destination,” he said.

Bacolod City was elevated to “Center of Excellence” by the Department of Science and Technology-Information and Communications Technology Office (DOST-ICTO) and the Information Technology and Business Process Association of the Philippines (IBPAP).moremoremore

illegal gambling, fishing

Gov. Alfredo Marañon Jr. said yesterday that he is calling on the police to wage an all-out war against illegal gambling in northern Negros Occidental, while a task force will be created to act on illegal fishing by large vessels in Cauayan town in the south.

Marañon said illegal gambling is rampant in northern Negros because some political leaders are supporting it.

“Gambling makes the poor poorer, and entices them to use money intended for their food to place bets,” he said.moremoremore

Bacolod Vice Mayor Jude Thaddeus Sayson yesterday congratulated the winning candidates in Bacolod City and also expressed his heartfelt thanks to all Bacoleños for the chance they have given him to serve them.

“Rest assured I will bring with me, wherever I go from here, the experience and the memories that I had shared with you,” he said.
