| PRC services slated in Bago
The Professional Regulation Commission will serve Negrenses applying for licensure examinations and the registration of professionals on May 22-24 at the Manuel Y. Torres Memorial Coliseum and Cultural Center in Bago City, Negros Occidental, a press release from the city said.
The “PRC-Iloilo On-The-Road” program, hosted by the Bago City College, will accept applications for the licensure examinations for teachers and nurses, initial registration of new professionals, and the renewal of the identification cards of various professionals in Bago City and nearby cities and towns, the press release also said.

Victorias wins good
governance award
Victorias City in Negros Occidental won in the Good Governance and Education Program of the Ateneo De Manila University-School Government, in cooperation with SEAOIL Philippines Inc. and Kaya Natin! Movement for Good Governance and Ethical Leadership recently, a press release from the city said.
It was granted funding assistance of P250,000 to help support projects and programs that aim to address basic education in the city.
The winning project of Victorias City, titled “A DRIP (Development Reading in Progress) to Refuel Educational Excellence”, bested 60 other entries nationwide, the press release also said.
The project aims to increase the NAT scores and completion rates, and decrease the dropout rates of high school students in Victorias, through remedial reading classes, that will start June to March 2014, and costs P688,000, the press release added.* back to top
Disaster response

Representatives from the Asian Disaster Preparedness Center will visit Silay City, Negros Occidental, soon for the validation of the Community Action for Disaster Response, or CADRE, program, a press release from the city said.
CADRE is part of the government Program for Enhancement of Emergency Response focusing on developing community-based responders and equipping them with basic skills to respond to disasters and other emergencies in the community.
Fire Insp. Vencie Aldeguer said the Silay City Local Disaster Risk Reduction Office, Philippine Red Cross, and the Office of the Civil Defense in Western Visayas held a CADRE course at the Silay Outdoor Recreation and Ecotourism in Barangay Patag.
He added that the ADPC also donated an emergency response kit to the city recently for adopting the PEER program, the press release added.* back to top  |
