Small and medium scale food entrepreneurs from Negros Occidental, who joined the four-day International Food Exhibition (IFEX) Philippines 2013, Asia's Ethnic Food and Ingredients Show, at the SMX Convention Center, made P46.6 million in sales and booked orders, Gov. Alfredo Marañon Jr. said yesterday.
Negros Occidental was pioneered by the Center for International Trade Exhibition Missions in its Partner Province Program, to promote the thriving food sector, and provide a venue to feature the producers and manufacturers at the food exhibition, he said.
The program also helps small and medium scale food entrepreneurs to undergo product and market development assistance in order to improve their products’ competitiveness in both local and international markets.
The Negros producers who joined the food show were T-Flavors, Quan Foods, Himayaan Deli, Grafils, Leny’s, Sarings, Casa Carmela, Fresh Start, Virgies, Negros Binhi, NISARD, El Ideal, Kit’s Herbs, Sofias, Balik Kalikasan, HLS, Herbanext, Bongbong, Fderico, Suarez Ent., Velorias, AlterTrade and Option.
The Negros products with high market demand from domestic and international buyers at the food show were muscovado, dried fish, frozen seafood, smoked fish, tea, pastries, herbal supplements, and sugar-free pastries, a report submitted to the governor showed.*CPG
