Thaddy congratulates
Bacolod poll winners

BY CHRYSEE SAMILLANO

Bacolod Vice Mayor Jude Thaddeus Sayson yesterday congratulated the winning candidates in Bacolod City and also expressed his heartfelt thanks to all Bacoleños for the chance they have given him to serve them.

“Rest assured I will bring with me, wherever I go from here, the experience and the memories that I had shared with you,” he said.

Sayson said the past three months or so was the most challenging moment of his political career and this taught him lessons that he will always treasure.

“I feel so blessed for the trust and confidence that you had shown to me. Your love and respect will be my inspiration in my future endeavors,” he said.

Sayson, mayoralty candidate of the Nationalist People’s Coalition – Grupo Progreso, lost to Monico Puentevella of Pamilya MKK during the May 13 elections.

Puentevella garnered 105,685 votes over Sayson who got 90,614 votes.

Sayson thanked the more than 90,000 people who joined him in his cause, saying, “I owe you a lot.”

He told his partymates that he was happy to have worked with them. “I know that our relationship will not end here. We will still be seeing each other, talk to each other and work together for the betterment of our beloved city,” Sayson said.

Sayson congratulated congressman-elect Evelio Leonardia, mayor-elect Monico Puentevella and vice mayor-elect Greg Gasataya and wished them luck.

He said he will go back to private life after his term ends but he will leave public service with a clear conscience knowing that he had served and fought for the interest of every Bacoleños.

Meanwhile, Secretary to the Mayor Moises de la Cruz said he believes the text messages circulating that congressman-elect Evelio Leonardia had dumped Sayson, his mayoralty candidate, in the May 13 elections, were circulated by those who may lose their job with the change in administration.

It is clear that the votes of Leonardia and Sayson were quite close, so how could there be “dumping”?

In an interview over ABS-CBN De La Cruz also said “In so far as the incoming congressman is concerned, that dumping story is not true. You should also consider the Golez-Monico tandem and the Caña-Monico tandem,” he said.*CGS
