A fresh products buyers’ forum was held yesterday at the conference hall of the Association of Negros Occidental Producers Showroom on how to improve the food industry in the province.
The forum, organized by ANP through its Optimizing and Upscaling Roles in Food Supply Chain Program was attended by 23 participants from the food industry sector.
Stephan Kunz, Philippine representative of the AFOS Foundation for Entrepreneurial Development of Germany, the partner of the AFP, the Metro Bacolod Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Filipino Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry in carrying at the program, served as main speaker for the event.
Kunz said Negros Occidental has great potential to be the food basket of the Philippines because of its available resources, that need to be harnessed.
The OURFOOD program is a market-oriented training and qualification approach to assist micro, small and medium enterprises players in selected food supply chains in Negros and Cebu to improve their income situation.
Aside from the Philippines, AFOS is also working closely with non-government organizations in some countries of Africa that include Nigeria and Ghana.*APN
