About 650 families were given assistance by the Council of Lions Club Presidents in Bacolod and the office of Rep. Evelio Leonardia.
The recipients were from Barangays Singcang-Airport, Alijis, Taculing, Pahanocoy and Mansilingan, Councilor Em Ang who is the incumbent Philippine Multiple District Council Chairperson, the highest official of the Lions in the country now, said in a press release from Leonardia’s office yesterday.
Ang said the relief distribution in Bacolod is in partnership with the Office of Leonardia, as they had also done in the past when Leonardia was still mayor of Bacolod.
“We will continue the distribution in Bacolod, and reach out to other affected barangays next time,” she said, adding that they base the list of beneficiaries on the one provided by the Department of Social Services.
Ang added that the Lions have launched an Emergency Relief Caravan that has, so far, reached 5,000 families in Panay and Northern Negros.
Leonardia said this project with the Lions is part of his program to partner with the private sector to maximize government resources, and hasten the delivery of services.* back
