Basecom got a lift from Adonis Rosales, who sizzled for 31 points, to beat Jast Enterprises, 85-68, and stay unbeaten after four games at the end of their first round assignment in Class B of the the Fil-Sino All Asian Countertrade 2nd Conference Inter-Company Basketball Tournament at Tay Tung High School gym in Bacolod City.
Rosales made his presence felt early in the game as he worked in tandem with Jubert Katalbas for a 21-point explosion for Basecom as they took the first quarter, 28-15.
Jast recovered in the second canto and equaled Basecom’s output of 15 points but Rosales remained hot in the third quarter as he delivered 15 points for a 65-44 Basecom lead going to the fourth quarter.
Katalbas finished with 20 points while Keith Banzon scored 8, Luigi Coo added 7, and Jordan Chua chipped in 6 points for the winning team.
Garret Tabanao and Jeremy Coo led Jast Enterprises with 12 points each, while Simon Tan scored 10, Jerky Ong and Ervin Tan contributed 6 points apiece.
Meanwhile, Royal Star Trading chalked up its second straight win at the expense of Organic Solutions, 70-66, in another Class B tussle.
Organic Solutions was ahead in the first quarter, 22-11, as Jan Jan Young and Monroe Chua scored 10 and 8 points, respectively.
Royal Star bounced back in the second quarter to hold Organic to 11 points with frontline of Mark Yu and Aldrian Tan getting the points from inside to cut the deficit to 32-30 by halftime.
Chua and Joshua Lao scored six points each as Organic was still in the driver’s seat at the end of the third quarter, 51-48. Royal Star relied their offense on the combined 11- point production by Livingstone Ang and Chipeng Uy.
Fatigue caught up with the undersized and undermanned Organic in the fourth quarter as Royal Star took an 8-point lead in the quarter behind the rebounding advantage by Ang, Aldrian Tan and Mark Yu, while Berto Uy and Biboy Yap carried the offense combining for 15 points.
Brgy Captain Biboy Yap led Royal Star anew with 17 points, Mark Yu scored 13, Aldrian Tan churned in 11, Chipeng Uy made 10, Livingstone Ang shot 9 points, and Berto Uy tallied 8 points.
Jan Jan Young led all scorers in a losing effort with 23 points while Monroe Chua picked up 21, Lao shot 12, and Brian Ong hit 10 points.*
