Multi-million aid given
for Negros rehab plan

Nine national government agencies have initially allocated P171.4 million for the Negros Occidental recovery and rehabilitation plan after the destruction caused by super typhoon “Yolanda”.

An additional P165.8 million is also being proposed from the Department of Education.

Damage to infrastructure, agricultural crops and fisheries in Western Visayas rose to P6.9 billion, including the P120.8 million in Negros Occidental, as of Nov. 24, a Office of the Civil Defense 6 report showed yesterday.

However, the amount is expected to increase as the OCD 6 receives more reports from the provinces affected by super typhoon Yolanda.

Infrastructure damage was placed by OCD 6 at P4.5 billion, agricultural losses – P710,616, 784 and fisheries – P1.7 billion.moremoremore

3 killed in accident

Three persons, including a son of a former Cadiz City Police chief, were killed and three others injured in a vehicular accident at Lacson Street in Brgy. Mandalagan, Bacolod City, at about 3 a.m. yesterday.

The fatalities were identified as Christian Gabana, 28, the driver of Nissan Sentra compact car, and his passengers Ma. Riegem dela Peña, and Jacky Jimenez, all of Cadiz City, Negros Occidental, by Police Officer 3 Docelio Pachoro, case investigator of the Traffic Management Unit.

Injured were the driver of the Fuso minibus, Jerry Serrano, 39, of Pontevedra town, his conductor Andy Lucidino, 22, and passenger Jason Adol, both of Hinigaran, all in Negros Occidental. Pachoro said they were sitting on the front seat of the vehicle. moremoremore
