Stars grace Buglasan Festival

GMA Television stars Marian Rivera and Lovi Poe will attend the Buglasan Festival of Negros Oriental today and tomorrow, a press release from the station said.

Rivera will be at the Robinsons Dumaguete City 4 p.m. today, for the Kapuso mall show, and Poe will lead the cast of “Akin Pa Rin Ang Bukas” in the Buglasan parade at 2 p.m. tomorrow. Joining her on the float are co-stars Rocco Nacino, Steven Silva and Ruru Madrid, the press release also said.

At 7 p.m. that day, they will be joined by Gladys Guevarra for the “Kapuso Night” variety show at the Sidlakang Negros Village, also in Dumaguete, the press release added.*

Outreach for
diabetics set Sunday

The provincial government of Negros Oriental, in cooperation with the Diocese of Dumaguete and the Australian organization, Insulin for Life, for all diabetics in the province, will hold a medical mission at the Lamberto Macias Sports Complex in Dumaguete City Sunday.

Organizers of the medical mission will distribute free insulin supplies and medicines to diabetics who will come to the event. There will also be a blood sugar testing starting at 6 a.m., a press release from the Capitol said.

A lecture on diabetic diet and complications will also be held. Apart from diabetics, the elderly, pregnant women, the obese, the hypertensive and those who are at risk of having diabetes are encouraged to attend the medical mission, the press release said.
