Faculty members and staff of the Victorias National High School held an outreach mission at the Boys Home in Brgy. Granada, and a picnic lunch at the Bantug Lake and Ranch in Brgy. Alangilan, all in Bacolod City, recently, a press release from the school said.
The event, in line with the World Teachers’ Day commemoration, was led by principal Cesar Adapon Jr. and Corazon Aspera-Pavillar, president of the Faculty and Staff Association Inc. of the VNHS. The teachers also donated two sacks of rice, used clothing and gifts worth more than P20,000 to the 54 wards of the Home, aged 10-18 years old, the press release said.
Fr. John Cardinal, executive director of the Boys Home, said it was the first time teachers visited them, held a program and games, and provided snacks and gifts. The teachers had lunch at the ranch in Alangilan, and went boating, fishing, calesa and horseback riding.
The teachers had earlier been honored in a program led by Supreme Student Government president Alyssa Sayson, on the theme “My Teacher, My Hero”. Each year level offered special numbers, gave messages of appreciation, handed out gifts, flowers and leis. The program ended with the “Prayer for Teachers”, led by SSG Vice president John Vincent Espanola, the press release said.* back
