A hotel in Bacolod is facing a P25,000 fine for its failure to comply with the sprinkler law, city fire marshal Chief Insp. Bartolome Beliran said yesterday.
Beliran said they inspected the Sylvia Manor Hotel about three weeks ago and advised it management to install a sprinkler system. However, when they inspected it again last week, the management had not started the installation yet.
He said the BFP issued a notice for the imposition of an administrative fine and posted a warning sign outside the hotel to compel them to install the sprinklers.

Presidential intervention needed
to fast-track land distribution: DAR
The intervention of President Benigno Aquino III and Department of Agrarian Reform Secretary Virgilio Delos Reyes is needed to fast-track land distribution in Negros Occidental, Provincial Agrarian Reform Officer for Northern Negros, Teresita Mabunay, said yesterday.
Mabunay said the help of the office of the president and of the DAR central office is necessary, especially in locating missing titles of land holdings initially identified by the agency to be covered under CARPER.
She said there are land-holdings with missing land titles and this is the reason why DAR could not issue notices of coverage.
