The City of Bacolod renewed its ties with Seogu District, Daegu Metropolitan City, Republic of Korea, by signing a Sister City Agreement yesterday at the Bacolod City Government Center lobby.

The agreement was signed between Mayor Monico Puentevella and Mayor Kang Seong-ho and was held to cultivate, nurture and strengthen the ties of friendship, peace and common development between the two cities.

Kang had also forged a sister relationship with the previous administration last year.moremoremore

75th ‘Charter Day'

Manuel V. Pangilinan will be Bacolod City's guest of honor during the 75 th  Diamond Celebration of its Cityhood Charter tomorrow and will be officially made an adopted son by Mayor Monico Puentevella, a press release from City Hall said.

MVP will address the people of Bacolod during the anniversary program at the Bacolod City Public Plaza at 5 p.m. following the Charter Day parade   which will start at 1 p.m.

With Pangilinan will be popular showbiz personalities Sharon Cuneta, Aga Mulach and Ogie Alcasid, the press release said.moremoremore

Oct 21 not a holiday

The Office of the President has denied the request of Bacolod City Mayor Monico Puentevella to have October 21 as a special non-working holiday in the City of Bacolod, a press release from City Hall said.

In his letter dated August 29, Puentevella, appealed to have Monday, or the last day of the celebration of the 75 th Charter Day Anniversary of the City, declared holiday but this was turned down for the reason that the Office wants to “keep holidays to the minimum”.

The letter from Malacañang further said that October 21 “may fittingly be observed in ways other than declaring it a local holiday,” the release said.moremoremore
