The Dumaguete police is almost done with its investigation on the possible suspects in the recent fatal shooting of a police officer in the city and the wounding of his wife.

Mayor Manuel Sagarbarria said a member of a highway robbery gang operating in the second district has been positively identified as the gunman who shot PO1 Jay Carpintero and wounded his wife.

He said one of the pictures shown to the policeman’s wife was that of Jonnel Inocerta Sotillo, believed to be a member of the Garsula robbery gang.

The multi-purpose building at the low-cost housing project for flood victims in Dumaguete City is ready to be used for activities like mass on weekends, values formation seminars, and livelihood training.

Dumaguete Mayor Manuel Sagarbarria and Fr. Burton Villarmente, director of the Social Action Center of the Diocese of Dumaguete, led the inauguration and blessing of the multi-purpose hall of the Caritas Village II Phase II in Barangay Bajumpandan, Friday.

It is part of the project jointly undertaken by the Catholic Church and the Dumaguete City government that started May 2012, to provide housing for victims of the flooding brought by tropical storm Sendong in December 2011.
