MassKara highlights

More than 50 giants roamed the Tourism Strip of Bacolod City to the delight of thousands of spectators and partygoers, who captured this once-a-year moment in their cameras. These giants were puppets skillfully made by the Arfien students of La Consolacion College Bacolod. As one of the judges, I salute the students and faculty of LCC for a job well done! You make Bacolod proud.

It was the dance party of the season as well-loved grand dame, Doña Nena de Leon, celebrated her 88th birthday with style at the grand hall of the Bacolod Pavillon Resort Hotel. Family and friends from abroad and Manila jetted in for this special occasion. Joining them were political pillars, business stalwarts, presidents of civic organizations, and socialites. Among those who came were Bacolod Congressman Bing and Elsa Leonardia, Bacolod Mayor Monico and Patching Puentevella, former Congressman John Orola, civic leader Inday Pefianco, and members of civic and dancing clubs.

After dinner, guests were entertained by superb dance performances! It was a night to remember as distinguished members of society took the center stage and performed dance numbers that truly took our breath away!

Also unforgettable were the dance numbers by daughter-hotelier Carissa, together with family and relatives from Manila as they performed the “Dancing Queen,” complete with costumes and props, while the Zonta group performed a frenetic number in colorful wigs and dazzling costumes.

The celebrator also took center stage with her son as she performed several dance numbers to the delight of the guests. Indeed, it was one of the best dance birthday parties of the season!*
