| Mustangs rip Rams for third win Defending champion West Negros University Mustangs turned back University of Negros Occidental-Recoletos ,70-66, to strengthen their bid for a 15th straight championship in men’s basketball of the Negros Occidental Private Schools Sports Cultural Educational Association at the WNU Gym yesterday. The win allowed the Mustangs to settle for second spot in the team standings with three wins and one loss after University of St. La Salle Stingers beat Visayan Martime Academy-Global, 83-67, to sweep all its assignments in the first round. Led by rookie Jan Nermal, who delivered 11 points in the fourth quarter, the Mustangs survived another serious threat from the Rams who erased a 10-point deficit, 41-31, middle of third quarter and grabbed the lead, 49-50, going into the final canto. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||
