For the third straight year, the Explorers Football School at the SJI Explorers Ayala Campus in Talisay City, will be open its doors to train football beginners as well as skilled young players to nurture their interest in sports.
This year’s training camp will start today until April 13 with the participants divided into three age groups, the 3 to 5 years old, 6 to 8 years old, and 9 to 12 years old.
In a previous interview with the DAILY STAR, Explorers Football School owner Luan Montelibano Verder said the summer football camp will provide
young football enthusiasts a venue to learn and enjoy the sport while honing their skills and nurturing their interest in the game.
Verder said the school was founded three years ago as an offshoot of the growing interest in football due to the popularity of the Philippine national team, the Azkals.
A football coach herself, with an exposure to the Asian Football Confederation C-License Course for Youth Football Coaching, Verders said the program offered by EFS is available to children from 3 to 12 years old, or the “golden age” in learning the sport.
As a coach-participant in the Asian Football Confederation C-License Course for Youth Football Coaching, coach Verder said they are planning to create football programs for children of all ages, starting with kids ages 3.5 to under 10 years old -- the “golden age” for learning the sport.
All participants in the three age levels will be attending a total of 12 sessions, with the 3-year-old participants having a one hour session every day from April 1 to April 13, while the 6 to 8 years old and the 9 to 12 years old groups will have one and a-half hours session every day.
Each participant will be charged P250 per session or a package rate of P2,640 for 12 session.*NAB
