1st day agri- fair sales bared

The sales from the first day of the Regional Agri-fair at the Panaad Park in Brgy. Mansilingan in Bacolod City was only P142,959, records furnished by the organizers to the DAILY STAR showed yesterday.

May Ann Grajo, head of the agri-business Division of the Department of Agriculture in Region 6, said the week-long fair promoting both organic and non-organic agricultural products of Western Visayas aims to share the best agricultural practices of farmers in the six provinces of the Region.

While the fair also features non-organic products, Grajo said the agency is promoting organic products to boost sales. These products are currently in demand because of increasing health awareness, she added.

Grajo added that the aim for this year is to increase the profit last year which was P900.000 when it was held last in Iloilo.

Aside from, the provinces of Aklan, Antique, Capiz, Iloilo, Guiimaras and Negros Occidental exhibitors from Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, Palawan, Davao and Cebu also joined the fair.

Meanwhile, a two-day organic Agriculture forum will be held at the organic villages today at the Panaad Park.*APN
