Barangay Health Workers of Negros Oriental will get a P100 increase in their monthly honorarium from the provincial government starting this year.
Negros Oriental Gov. Roel Degamo announced this during the distribution of the honorarium of BHWs province-wide recently, a press release from the Capitol said.
He said the increase is the provincial government’s way of recognizing the BHWs as valuable partners in the delivery of basic health services to the people.
Without them, it will be very difficult to bring the programs and project of the government to the barangays. Degamo said the BHWs are the government’s arm in reaching out people living in far-flung areas.
He said the increase is very minimal compared to the sacrifices and hard work of the BHWs. The provincial government will find other ways to remunerate the workers for the welfare of the people in the barangay, the press release added.*JFP
