Agravante, Nobleza keep
title in Panaad 12-kilometer race

Veteran runners Jason Agravante and Jennlyn Nobleza dominated the 21st Panaad sa Negros 12-kilometer marathon from Murcia town towards the Panaad Park and Sports Stadium yesterday.

Agravante, 25, of Bacolod Lagoon Hamster, registered a time of 35 minutes and16 seconds to surpass his last year’s personal record of 38 minutes and12.50 seconds.

Rounding up the top three winners in the men’s category were Macklin Sadia of Cadiz City, who also placed second last year, and Romulo Balinas of Bacolod city.

In the women division, Nobleza of Silay City clocked 42 minutes and 47 seconds to remain as the top female runner in the event.

Escalante booked the second and third place finish with Stephanie Cadosale taking the silver with her 46.05 time and Jelyn Duran, with a time of 47.02 for third.  Mary Grace Lallen of Bacolod City and Helen Ison of Murcia completed the women’s top five runners.

The champions received P5, 000 cash prize, P3,000 for the second placers, and  P1,000 for the third placers. Consolation prize of P500 each was awarded to the fourth and fifth finishers.

The organizers also awarded special prizes to the oldest and youngest runners, 73-year-old Romeo Reyes of Silay City and 7-year-old Gavin June Gargarita of Pulupandan.

The 12-kilometer race drew participation from 402 runners , among them, trainees from the Regional Training School 6 of the Philippine National Police in Bacolod City.*PNA
