Stolen bones,
skull found in Valladolid

BY SHIELA GELERA

A skull and several bones, allegedly owned by a man, whose body was dismembered by suspected cultists two days after his burial on 2012, were found in a farm in Purok Calderon, Brgy. Sagua Banua in Valladolid town, Negros Occidental, at about 7:30 a.m. yesterday.

The skeleton, that was placed in a sack, was recovered at a muddy portion of the farm in the purok, Chief Insp. Luisito Acebuche, officer-in-charge of the Valladolid town police said.

Acebuche said Arlene Escala, identified the skull to be that of her father Berto Pelicano, 58, of Brgy. Lacaron in Valladolid, through the hair.

Pelicano’s corpse was taken out of the coffin by the suspects, who also destroyed the burial niche, a day after Pelicano was buried on June 30, 2012, at the Valladolid public cemetery, reports said.

The cadaver of Pelicano was reportedly beheaded, and his left arm and leg were also cut off, records show.

No one was reported missing in the town, recently, the police said.

Acebuche said the recovered cadaver was brought to the Provincial Crime Laboratory for proper identification.*SGG
