Cemetery curfew set
BY CHRYSEE SAMILLANO

A curfew at the Bacolod City Public Cemetery at Burgos Street, Bacolod City starting 5:30 p.m. was imposed yesterday by Bacolod General Services Officer Jerome Solinap after some tombs were desecrated by unidentified minors.

Solinap said yesterday that, aside from the five tombs ruined by these minors, there were also niches destroyed by uprooted trees.

Information they have gathered allegedly showed that the suspects, believed to be teenagers, cracked the tombs open to get the steel inside them to sell to junkshops.

Solinap said he ordered the clearing of trees inside the cemetery compound yesterday and instructed its caretaker, Tito Montelibano, to close the gate by 5:30 p.m. to prevent other persons from entering the area.

He also said he will assign two security guards to help the caretaker in securing the cemetery.

For humanitarian consideration, he said they gave the two persons living inside the cemetery compound, one of whom has two children, one week to vacate the area.*CGS
