Bacoleño gets 97 years
for rape of 3 daughters

A jai-alai collector was sentenced yesterday to 97 years imprisonment for raping his three minor daughters in Bacolod City almost 14 years ago.

Bacolod Regional Trial Court Branch 52 Judge Raymond Joseph Javier sentenced the 55-year-old father, whose name is being withheld to protect the identity of the victims, to two counts of reclusion perpetua, or 40-years imprisonment each, for raping his 11 and 9-year-old daughters in July 2000.

He was also ordered to pay his two daughters P180,000 each in civil indemnity, and moral and exemplary damages.moremoremore

SP okays P251M
supplemental budget

The Sangguniang Panlalawigan of Negros Occidental unanimously approved yesterday supplemental budget ordinances of the provincial government and its Economic Enterprise Development Department, of P251,454,344.

The P206,286,045 Supplemental Budget No. 1 of the province includes the budget for the construction of the third floor of the Negros Occidental High School in Bacolod City, which was among the issues raised against Gov. Alfredo Maranon Jr. during the 2013 elections.

Board Member Miller Serondo, who had pushed for its approval, said the provincial government will finance the construction of 15 more classrooms at the Negros Occidental High School in Bacolod City, with the bidding expected to start soon.moremoremore

Stray dog bites six in Brgy 2

A stray dog bit six persons in Purok Lampirong, Barangay 2, Bacolod City, midnight Tuesday.

Five of the victims were treated at the Bacolod City Health Office while another was brought to a private hospital, radio reports said.

Those treated at the CHO after getting bitten in the neck and parts of their legs were Daniel Panes, Rodrigo Baron, Roberto Natalio and Ronald Posadas.moremoremore
