Silay volleyball

The city government of Silay City cited the efforts of the members of the boys and girls’ 10-Under volleyball teams who retained their title in the

2014 Negros Occidental Volleyball Association-initiated Age-Group Volleyball Tournament held at the University of St. La Salle Covered Court, a press release from Silay City Hall said.

The young volleyball champions were the products of the yearly Summer Sports Program in Silay City.

The city government also lauded the members of the 14-Under boys team who placed first runner-up, and the 12-Under and 10-Under girls’ Team B who took home the second runner-up award, the press release said.

The Silay City spikers were mentored and trained by Alexander Balili, Ronald Premaylon, John Ledesma, Joel Dequilla and Arno Pescuela.

Meanwhile, the Silay City High School girls football team along with their teammates from the Under-18 boys and men’s team finished on the top three of the 2nd Mayor Patrick Escalante 7- A-Side Football Festival in Cadiz City.

The men’s team earlier topped the Sinigayan Football Festival, while the Silay ladies’ team placed second in the tournament.

Also showing great improvements is the city’s high school football team training under the tutelage of coach Noel Ofamen. The team bagged honors in the 1st Ella Football Festival recently held in Moises Padilla, the press release said.

Silay City sports program is under the supervision of sports coordinator Hector Gamboa Jr. with the support of Mayor Jose Montelibano.*
