“Pay your taxes early and correctly”.
The reminder came from Josie Ric Cabrera, chief of the legal division of BIR Region 12, yesterday who also said yesterday that the deadline for the filing of the income tax return is Tuesday and that there will be no extension.
Cabrera said BIR district offices in Negros Occidental will be open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Tuesday.
Yhose who can not make it to the cut-off will be required by the Bureau of Internal Revenue to pay a civil penalty equivalent to 25 percent of the total amount due them or an additional P1,000 for those who have no amount due.
Cabrera also said that those who filed their ITRs at the wrong BIR revenue district office, will be charged with an out-of-venue penalty equivalent to 25 percent of tax due.
Under BIR rules, those who have tax refunds from the previous year's payment cannot use it to pay off the penalties, surcharges and interests.* APN
