A penalty kick awarded to Western Visayas in the 27 th minute allowed Anthony Prince to secure the goal for the team and win the final match.

En route to the championship, the Freddie Lazarito-mentored USLS – Ceres team routed Bicol Region, 11-0 in their first assignment, turned back SOCCSKSARGEN (Region 12), 2-0, the next day, then tamed CALABARZON ON to sweep the elimination round.

Solon confident
of Pacquiao win

MANILA - Lawmakers yesterday rallied behind their colleague, Rep. Emmanuel “Manny” Pacquiao (Lone District, Sarangani), expressing confidence that the Filipino boxing icon would win convincingly over Timothy Bradley during their much-awaited rematch this Sunday in La Vegas, Nevada.

House Deputy Speaker and Nueva Vizcaya Rep. Carlos Padilla said Pacquiao is blessed with all the necessary assets to defeat Bradley.

“Manny has the guts, confidence, ring intelligence, stamina, speed, punching prowess and aggressiveness to overcome Bradley. These assets are also backed up by rigid training and a well-thought rematch strategy,” said Padilla.

Bradley received threats
after win over Pacquiao

Timothy Bradley said that the vitriolic abuse that he received after his controversial triumph over Manny Pacquiao had him contemplating not only ending his boxing career but even his life.

Most observers thought Pacquiao clearly won the fight, and the controversy that erupted left Bradley living through what he called the "darkest time in my life".

"Did I consider suicide? Hell yeah," said Bradley, who is looking for redemption this Sunday's (Phil. Time) rematch with Pacquiao.
