Renovations and facelifting are ongoing at the Panaad Sports Complex for the May 6-10 Asian Football Confederation President's Cup on May 6-10 that will pit Ceres-La Salle Football Club against North Korea, Turkmenistan and Chinese-Taipei, a press release from Ceres FC said.
The renovations are done by the Locs Organizing Committee chaired by Nicolas Golez, administrator of the host football club.
Golez said the improvements, with a two-week timetable, are being done to make the venue, including the football pitch, ready for the international tournament based on standards set by the AFC, the press release said.
The competition will be another opprtunity for Negros Occidental to showcase its international sports tourism capability called on Negrenses to rally behind Ceres-La Salle FC.
Renovations included the setting up of two more dressing rooms, including shower facilities, as the AFC requires at least four dressing rooms for a tournament of this caliber, the press release said.
Part of the preparation is making sure that the carpet of grass on the pitch will be green by competition time and that practice venues -- at UNO-Recoletos and the Ceres-La Salle FC fields - will be suitable for use by the visiting teams, the press release said.
The visitors and participants will be billeted at L'Fisher, Planta Centro, Sugarland and O' Hotel as well as Luxur Place, Sugarland And O' Hotels.
