A massive inspection in Bacolod City against business establishments that have no business permits will be launched next week, Bacolod Mayor Monico Puentevella said yesterday.
“We are giving a strong warning to all business establishments in Bacolod to secure business permits because if they are caught, their names will be published in the newspapers,” he said.
Puentevella said he believes there is a sizable number of establishments in the city particularly in the downtown area that have not secured business permits. They will be given one or two months to comply the requirement because if they are caught without a permit they will be imposed heavy fines, he said.
He did not mention, however, the case of the businesses of a certain Francis Cabuga that have started constructions in two barangays of Bacolod without the required permits from the city and the national government.
“We are trying to help you with proper traffic management and waste management so it is now pay back time for business establishments to help the city. We are requesting them very kindly to pay and apply for business permit,” Puentevella said.
He said those caught without business permits will be posted in the news and they do not want to embarrass them.
Puentevella said he has created a technical working group to come up with an official memorandum on what penalties will be handed down to establishments caught without business permits.
After the Holy Week, a task force will be inspecting establishments in the downtown to ensure that they have secured business permits, he said.*CGS
