AT 9TH REUNION
Locsin outstanding
members awarded
BY CARLO LEONARDIA

The 9 th Locsin reunion since 1974 was held at the Natalio G. Velez Sports and Cultural Center and the Silay City Civic Center on April 25-26. More than 450 Locsins from as far as the United States and Spain registered and participated in the various activities that were lined up for the descendants of the 11 children of Agustin Locsin and Cecilia Sayson.

Aside from the fun games and relatives reconnecting with each other, awards were given to outstanding members of the clan, such as Jay Abello (cinema and photography), Silay City Mayor Jose “Oti” Montelibano (public service), Robin Abello (information technology), Teodoro Locsin Jr. (journalism), and the Negros Volunteers for Change Foundation Inc. (community & social service).

The talents of Locsins were also on display, with performances from Cocoy Laurel, Nisa Limjap, the Benin family, and the Garcia Sanchez school of dance. One Locsin tradition that continues to live on with every reunion was the dance of the “Tanda de Valse”, to a tune composed by Jose “Pitong” Ledesma, led by the group of Marissa Montelibano, the first lady of Silay City. Teddy Boy Locsin also gave a Teditorial during the talent show.

Two lucky members of the clan won the grand prize of the raffle, walking away with a flat screen TV each. The rest of the weekend was spent by the Locsins who flocked to Silay and Bacolod enjoying the sights and meeting with relatives, both old and new.*
