Crop production increases
under OURFood program

Crop production of farmers in Negros Occidental under the OURFood Program of the Association of Negros Producers and a German Foundation, has increase by 2 tons weekly, Marivic Rio, former ANP president and chief executive officer, said yesterday.

Rio said the increase is attributed to the awarding of the Good Agricultural Practices by the Bureau of Agriculture and Fisheries Product Standards to three small farmers' organization recently.

Before the awarding of the GAP certificate, she said the farmers under the OURFood program can only reached 300 to 500 kilograms per week production.

There are now 30 farmers' organizations under the OURFood program, 20 of them from San Carlos City and the rest from Silay, ANP records show.

Meanwhile, 180 farmers, including those from Brgy. Cabatangan in Talisay City, will undergo a seminar next week on good agricultural practices.

OURFood Program was established in Cebu, Negros Occidental and Negros Oriental to maximize income opportunities for micro, small and medium enterprise in the food supply chain.*APN
